This test is
composed of 3 long answer questions that require you to make sense of the
material covered in the chapter. You will need to use class material along with
personal opinions and prior knowledge to develop an appropriate answer. The
best way to study for this test is to:
- look over the material in the notes
- make sure you fully understand the key terms (you understand the key terms when you are provided a definition other than the one in the back of the book, and still know what the term is)
- ensure you know how to use material from the chapter as support for answering a more general question
Three of the following four questions will be on the test, so study these carefully:
1. Answer each of the following questions:
a. List the site and situation factors that exist in your community
b. Do you think that the factors you have listed will result in the growth or decline of
your community?
c. How will the factors you mentioned affect the growth (or decline) of your community?
2. In regards to relocation, answer the following questions (try to use key terms from the chapter within your answer):
a. What is relocation?
b. List at least 3 factors that will help determine if relocation is necessary.
c. How do each of the factors you listed in part b specifically relate to relocation?
3. Over time, majority of human population has tended to be attracted to urban areas.
a. What is the term for this trend?
b. Why does this happen? (To help answer this question, think about reasons that people live in urban areas).
4. In class we have been talking about regional stereotypes:
a. What is a regional stereotype?
b. Give some examples (at least 3) of regional stereotypes.
c. How can the geography of a region (i.e. bodies of water, mountains, prairies) influence regional stereotypes?
